Too good to be true? Not with X-Series™
If you have used other alignment systems, you probably know the drill:
Shim and move…
Check your alignment…
Shim again, move again…
Check it all again…
Cross your fingers and hope it is finally right.
And when it’s not? That display box starts to look like a stress test waiting to happen.
Many well-known authors and even precision alignment training programs suggest that your first correction should bring the machine within .010 in. (0.25 mm) before doing another data collection sweep. In other words, they expect alignment to be achieved through multiple passes, gradually working toward the final result. We fundamentally disagree with this approach. If your system requires you to chase alignment in stages, it is not providing the complete correction picture from the start. Alignment should not be a step-by-step approximation. With the right measurement capability, you should be able to identify the true correction values immediately and complete the alignment in a single move and shim step.
This is the frustrating cycle many technicians go through, even with so-called “premium” systems. So much for “easy,” right? And no offense, but not even the best of “German engineering” has solved this problem.
At Hamar Laser, we do not just talk about accuracy, we build it into every product we make. Backed by decades of precision laser experience in the machine tool industry, we engineered our X-Series™ Laser Shaft Alignment Systems to deliver:
Super-linear PSD technology
Up to 500-point factory calibration
Up to 15x more accuracy than competing systems
Even our entry-level X-660 3-Axis system is 5x more accurate than many competitors’ top-tier models. Why? Because accuracy matters, and it is the foundation of our Shim Once, Move Once™ promise.
Higher accuracy means better repeatability and more trustworthy alignment results. And when our Couple6™ alignment software gives you shim and move values, you can trust they are right the first time.
No guesswork. No trial and error. No endless re-checking.
Just bolt it down, once. Done.
Sure, Conditions Matter
Yes, we know not every situation is perfect. Bad soleplates, damaged bearings, worn seals, they can all mess with your final move. But even in good conditions, many systems still make you do everything two, three, even four times. Why settle for that?
With the X-Series™, you get precision that makes your alignment faster, smoother, and far less frustrating.
Give us a call and see why so many alignment technicians are switching to Hamar Laser’s X-Series™, because they are tired of the “old way” and ready for results that stick the first time.
Assumptions for this example: You have a 480 volt motor drawing 40 amps and operating 8400 hours/year. The Power Factor is .85. Electricity costs $0.06/kWhr. Also assume that the amp draw is measured before and after the alignment and it is found that there is a 1 amp difference.
kW =V* A*PF*1.732/1000
kW =480V* 1A*.85*1.732/1000
kW =.706 = power savings
Savings ($) = operating hours * kW savings * kW cost
Savings ($) = 8400 * .706 * $0.06/kWhr
Savings ($) = 8400 * .706 * $0.06/kWhr
Savings ($) = 355.82
If your plant has 80 similar motors, and if only half of them had the same amount of savings, it would total $355.82 * .5 = $14,232!
The coupling icons next to the data displays show the direction of the misalignment at the coupling and update as you move or shim the motor! You can also zoom in on the coupling to show them in the live display area of the screen.
